I quickly figured out why I needed an adware removal tool.

Without thinking, I downloaded a free program.
• After that had malware on my computer
• On my website certain words had been changed to upper case blue
• Hovered over it, an ad showed up.

The term malware includes computer viruses, ransomware, worms, trojan horses, rootkits, keyloggers, dialers, spyware, adware, malicious BHOs, rogue security software and other malicious programs that you may have on the computer. Signs that you’re infected with malware:

♦ A little box repeatedly comes up in the upper right-hand corner.  It tries to sell you something such as a computer cleaner.
♦ Receive an error Internet Explorer could not display the page when attempting to access certain websites.
♦ Your web browser (e.g., Microsoft Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome) freezes, hangs or is unresponsive.
♦ Your web browser’s default homepage is changed.
♦ Access to security related websites is blocked.
♦ You get redirected to web pages other than the one to which you intended to go.

How you get infected

Uninstall spywareOne of the videos below says that you can get infected by downloading free software from unreputable websites.  However, I even got adware from the official GIMP website.   (If you really want GIMP, I recommend paying your $47 and get an ad-free download.  Besides that, the $47 version comes with lots & lots of tutorials.)
